update post image

hey hey,

I haven’t been on here for a while, actually, that is a lie, I’ve been on here, but just not posting. While I was away, a lot has happened since my trip home which I wanted to write about but the trip was more of a family visit rather than a fancy holiday of a life time to Thailand. This doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy and loved the trip back, however, the trip was more of a family gathering, so it didn’t feel appropriate to be taking photos of everyone at every encounter.

Anyways, I want to jump back on here to say that I have big news for you guys. I’ve had and jumped right into the pool of blogging as I’ve bought my own domain name and is designing everything. I will fill you in on everything through Styledistricts.com

While I’m planning to use a template to start off, the site will be designed by me and coded by my close friend. Your girl doesn’t know those technical aspects yet…

All I want to say is THANK YOU FOR EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO FOLLOWED, COMMENTED, LIKE OR SHARED MY THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS. So, I would be extremely grateful if you could email subscribe to my next blog.

A LITTLE UPDATE

Day-to-day, Uncategorized

hey hey,

So…

  1. 2nd year of university is done! all I have left is 7 finals ahh
  2. Due to loads of deadlines, this meant I have not posted in a while, super sorry!
  3. I’m back home [HOME] so this next 2 weeks will be lacking as well

BUT

if you check out my Instagram, you can follow my day-to-day [can’t promise a constant update as data and wifi signal is not great here]

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

19.6.17

Even more updates on what’s happening and why I’ve been so quite…

it has been a crazy few months since the last uploads and updates

I’ve finished my finals (over four weeks now) and I know, WHY HAVEN’T I POSTED ANYTHING??. Well, since started this little thing, I’ve always wanted to create a space where I can create and control the contents but as many of you know, technically WordPress owns everything I put out through The Rooftop View.

Since now I have more free time, I going to create more contents (more interior, more food, and definitely more fashion). I’m also going to dip my little fingers into beauty which might seem like a new thing to be blogging about, but, IRL, I ADORE beauty products from skin care to fragrances. So, please keep an eye out for my new site/blog/diary, but in the meanwhile, follow my IG (HERE) to keep up to date. I’m trying to achieve one of my year goals, which is to be more present whether in person or online- I need to learn to share and update people in my life of what is happening. This can be hard, as I’m quite a private person sometimes, I go through phases of not sharing anything to sharing every five minutes. To help me to achieve this goal, I’m planning to use my Twitter a bit more. I know, I don’t think people even know that I have a Twitter account haha…. if you want to keep updated with me… follow my Twitter (HERE) for instant thoughts updates rather than pictures and videos on IG.

Finally, my new site will be under a different name (because TRV.com is not available, sadly), self-hosted (because I want to own my own ideas) and self-designed (because I love to design) BUT it will be similar contents just with a new twist. So, please keep an eye out for the new site.

MY STYLE INFLUENCERS | WEDNESDAY WARDROBE

Uncategorized, Wedneday Wardrobe

Hey hey,

Wednesday is finally here and 2 weeks until last day of the second year and THAILAND!!

While I’ve been showing you what my style is but haven’t really mentioned who, what and where I’m influenced by…

MY MAIN INFLUENCERS

https://www.instagram.com/heyclaire/

Claire is one the main influence when it comes to chill and street vibes styles because I love her edgy jeans and a white tee. I first felt in love with her style when I saw her video of 3 Quick Fall Outfits <<HERE>> Ever since that video, I’ve been following and seeing how her style changes and how it also affects me and how my street and relax wears changes as well.

https://www.instagram.com/vanessahudgens/

THE QUEEN OF BOHEMIAN!! I’ve been a fan of Vanessa Hudgens since the OG days (HMS4LYFE). Anyways, as you know I have 2 styles, the street and the sweet sides especially during the Spring and Summer. Her influences on me are the stripes, light tones and hairstyles.

https://www.instagram.com/stellahudgens/

The other HUDGENS. Stella gives more of a sexy feel with a bohemian twist. The off the shoulders and cleavage style.

https://www.instagram.com/songofstyle/

Amy’s feminine flowy dress and she are always up to date and on trends which why she influences my style so much when I want to try and experiment on up current trends.

https://www.instagram.com/chrissyteigen/

I don’t love not just because of her cooking and sense of humour but also her easy business style yet sexy. Her twist on a classic on a button up and blazer!

https://www.instagram.com/emitaz/

Emelie knows how to layer different items with different accessories! If you’re stuck on how accessories then she is your go through girl!!

https://www.instagram.com/haileybaldwin/

HB! The girl who how who knows how to make plain items looks stylish without trying- me all day every day if I could!

Kitch, Canterbury | Review

Sunday Sanctuary, Uncategorized

Hey hey,

I know that it is not brunch o’clock, but this week has been so busy that I didn’t have time until now to write this post.

Anyways,

THIS is a home to me, it is a mini break from the ‘old’ Canterbury feels.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Name: Kitch

Location: 4 St Peter’s St, Canterbury CT1 2AT

Price: £

Kitch cafe is where you can order breakfast and brunch until 4 pm- that’s right people 4 PM! They offer vegetarians and vegan options as well as gluten-free dishes. Another amazing thing about Kitch is that everything is cook made to order so you can expect fresh and flavourful dishes.

________________________________

Kitch is situated at the top end of the high street, while it is not easy to spot if you’re not intentionally looking for it, the cute outdoor seating area might make you stop and look. The white metal chairs and the charcoal grey tables are extremely picturesque.

Location: 10/10

Once you enter the cafe, you will be greeted with welcoming faces of the staffs there. Depends on the time of your visit, it would likely be busy and you might have to wait for a table to be free- this is due to the size of the cafe as well as its popularity. Anyways, once seated, the soft pillows, marble table and aesthetically pleasing decors will make you forget that you’re in Canterbury, but transported to a mini London cafe. The background music is normally UK charts which are extremely recognisable and good conversation starter.

Atmosphere: 10/10

The best bits

While I haven’t fully tried everything on the menu, I know it will taste amazing due to my past experiences. Kitch offers special dishes which are available on the weekends and you can have soy, almond and coconut milk instead of regular milk. I would highly RECOMMEND having coconut milk in your match latte. It is heavenly!

Kitch is ideal for that gossip session with the girls, spa day or just because you want good food!

JUST HOLD ON, I’M GOING HOME | THAILAND

Fri-yay, Uncategorized

Hey hey,

IT IS OFFICIALLY BOOKED! The flight tickets just have been booked for April 9th, to Bangkok, Thailand! Even though it hasn’t been long since my last visit back in 2015- my family would normally alternate Christmas here in the UK one year and Thailand the next.

Since I’m planning to be in my placement (hopefully- currently at 70% of me quitting) and we haven’t been on a proper holiday as a family in a while, this would be a perfect time.

Since now that it is officially confirmed, I want to fully explore my home turf as everytime I go back, I would never fully take advantage of it. Every time I’ve mentioned that I’m going to Thailand, everyone seems to be super excited and it is always on people’s destination wishlist.

I know because of growing up there and visiting every 2 years meant I underestimated the beauty of the country and overlook the opportunities of full appreciating the country just because it’s home and I will always come back.

Anyways,

This post about what Thailand has to offer.

LOCATION: South East Asia

TEMEPTURE: 35+ °C with 100% precipitation

COST:  High flight tickets but low costs once arrive

SPECIAL EVENT: Songkran (look below for more details)

5 reasons for visiting Thailand!

ff1

THE STREET FOOD:

Thailand is well-known for its street food and Bangkok is one the best place where you will find a fruit stand next to fried chicken stall. While the location of the stalls will not be appealing for most tourists, this is where you WILLtrulyy find the best food. The best-tasting food will not be at a restaurant where a dish could start from 250 baht (£5.00)- I know this might not sound expensive, but for what you pay for (the quality and taste), you can get the same dish for 50 baht (£1.00). So, why would spend so much money for a dish that would taste the same, sometimes better from the street stall?

ff2

BANGKOK ITSELF:

Yes, Bangkok is extremely polluted- smog everywhere. The smog and business of the city can be extremely off-putting especially for first-time visitors as the fast paced and loud noises do not allow you to think and take in the city as you normally would.

HOWEVER, once you’ve gotten used to the rush, noises and business, you’ll be able to appreciate everything Bangkok has to offer from the famous floating river markets (this is an extream must when visiting Bangkok as the market will transport you back to the olden day of Thailand and how Thai people used to live) to the many temples and super malls (there are as many temples as super malls- FACTS-ish)

Most floating river markets are open on Saturday only, so research the opening time and date before visiting. Also, some river market is located within or near a temple so please beware of your clothing choices. The market will offer hot food such as boat noodle and souvenirs of the local landmarks or just nick nacks.

Another must attracts are temples (the most popular is Wat Pho due to the Reclining Buddha) which are extremely stunning. Again, when visiting temples (Wat), there are rules which are known by the locals which require tourist to follow as well.

  1. You should cover your shoulders and knees
  2. DO take off your shoes
  3. Don’t shout, swear or being extremely noisy
  4. Do not run and remain quite once inside the temple
  5. NEVER at any point within the temple area POINT- not even for directions.
  6. Do not sit with the legs outstretched, as this is a sign of disrespect
  7. Females are not recommended to go straight up to monks as this is a sign of disrespect. If you’re approached a monk, do bow your head as a sign of respect.
  8. DON’T take photos unless it is clear sign marked okay to do so.
  9. Step over the threshold rather than on it.
  10. Don’t smoke, spit and or chew gum within the temple premises.

While these rules are not clear shown or mentioned except clothing, as a visitor of a holy place, many local are expected that you know the etiquettes.

Supermalls are a place where you could spend a day and not full seen everything as it has clothing stalls, cinema, restaurants, salons and water park. The water will depend on how big the mall is, but this is a must especially if you can’t visit little islands and beaches.

ff3

ff4

THE ISLANDS & BEACHES:

What more could I say about this? The tropical islands and beaches are probably the main reasons why everyone wants to visit Thailand. Due to the locations of most Island, Island hopping is a must! you will get the most out of what they have to offer from waterfalls to the deep green jungles. The clear turquoise water is a heaven on earth!

ff6

THE FOURS REGIONS:

While many known Thailand for it central and southern regions, the North and Northeast are some of the most scenic and beautiful places you will ever see. Chiang Mai offers extremely contrast to Bangkok in terms of freshest and zen vibe. You can spend the morning pick tea leave and feed the elephants in the afternoon. While the Northeast offers the ability see how rice is grown and cooking classes which you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else with recipes handed down from great-grandparents. While the South offers fresh seafood and dream tropical locations and central being you the modern skyscrapers and vibrant nightlife. Thailand will allow you to have a taste of everything.

ff5

THAI’S FESTIVALS:

As I am visiting in April, we managed to book our tickets during the most fun and yet annoying festival of the year, Songkran. Songkran is a 3 days water fight celebration of the Thai’s Buddist New Year. From the 13th- 15th, every official governmental office are closed (apart from hospitals, fire department and police office) and for 3 days straight we have a giant water flight. So, you could be walking down the street and car car droved by and chuck water at you. This is legal and you can’t do anything about it apart from join in with the celebration! This would be both fun and annoying as the water flight doesn’t have an end time (day-to-night) you could get soaked when you’re on your way out to a nice dinner.

There are other festivals such as Loy Krathong, Lantern festivals and we even have Chiang Mai flower festival.

If you have any questions or just want to know more, please comment below!

I would love to know what you like to do if you’re going to visit Thailand?

Hey hey,

I am extreamly sorry for not posting yesterday!!

There was an extremely weak reason for not posting yesterday, and that I was on my ‘Readin Week’ which means a week of ‘reading and catching up with work’. Well, as my friend Emma (see my post on her style/photoshoot) was visiting and I went to visiting my other close friend, Kat in Cheltenham meant I didn’t have a lot of time to schedule my Sunday Sanctuary post. But, to make up for this, next Sunday Sanctuary post will be worth the wait- it is about my favourite meal time! BRUNCH!

Anyways,

I can’t confirm the official dates yet, but, I am planning a holiday in April and can’t wait to shop for summer clothes (hint hint *wink), eat amazing street food (another hint) and enjoy the wonderful views! But, right now back to the reality of Uni schedules, coursework (1/6 is due in today, ahh) and trying to balance the triangle (health, social life and uni).

I hope these pictures and songs inspire and push you through this Monday morning!

Looking forwards so much to wear bright colours, well white and blues tones still count as bright colours right?? Also because it is going into spring, I’m changing from the light pink to this orange/red.

What’s you go-to pieces for spring/summer?
